Website Relaunch
Welcome to our new and improved website! Our refresh is to celebrate 20 years of the Friends of Whitehall rec, and to give more...

The Friends of Whitehall Recreation Ground is a voluntary group that was set up in late 2005 working in partnership with the London Borough of Bromley Parks department. The purpose of the group is to encourage the local community to have an involvement in the upkeep of park and have a stake in its future development.
We have run a series of successful events throughout the years, including the Bromley Beer Festival, Bark in the Park, Fun Day, Apple Day, Easter Egg Hunts and Halloween Storytelling. We have developed a range of habitats, including creating a hedgerow, stag beetle loggery, orchard, bat and bird boxes and creating a meadow and pond area. This year we also planted a mini forest. We hold a green gym every Thursday from 1pm-3pm and also hold a series of workdays throughout the year that range from habitat creation to flower planting. All the daffodils you see in the park were planted by local people and families.

Whitehall Rec is an open, community green space in the heart of Chatterton Village, Bromley Common. Year round, it promotes arboreal conservation, civic enhancement and community engagement.

The park boasts one of the largest dog-free children's area in the borough, with a natural meadow, hedgerow, a separate nature area, and orchard, along with children's play equipment which the Friend's have added to through fundraising.

There is also an outdoor gym trail, multiple benches, a sensory raised garden, and plenty of shaded areas, with trees lining the outer edges of the park.

The Friends of Whitehall Recreation has been working with Bromley Council, and idVerde who are responsible for maintenance of the park.
